Nobody can raid you here, so a base is a place to store, craft and farm, not a fortress. A few rules keep the map tidy, and a handful of commands do the boring parts for you.
Protection
- Other players cannot damage your base, your deployables or your sleeper, and they cannot open your boxes.
- Zombies and NPCs do not break buildings either. The fight at your base is the one you start yourself: Raid From Hell.
- The one time players can hurt bases is the PvP window on wipe day.
Tool Cupboard
- Your first 20 building blocks need no cupboard. From the 21st on, a block placed without a Tool Cupboard you are authorised on is taken away again.
- One base per 200 m. You cannot place a second Tool Cupboard, or start a new base, within 200 m of a cupboard you already own. Caves and other underground spots are exempt.
- Upkeep works as in normal Rust: keep the cupboard stocked or the base decays.
- The mining quarry and the small wind turbine cannot be placed. Use the virtual quarries in
/mm(a skill tree perk) instead.
/hcmd, at your cupboard, handles authorisation for the cupboard and every door you placed within 100 m:
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/hcmd auth team | Authorises your whole team on the cupboard and the door code locks |
/hcmd auth add <name> | Authorises one player |
/hcmd auth | Authorises yourself |
/hcmd clear | Clears everyone from the cupboard and the code locks |
/hcmd info | Counts your doors and how many still need a lock |
/hcmd lock | Puts a code lock on every unlocked door and locks it. Carry one code lock per door |
/hcmd unlock | Unlocks all your doors |
/getout: look at a player in your base to send them away. Sleepers can always be sent off; awake players only from a building of 30 blocks or more. Anyone authorised on your cupboard is left alone. It also removes a stranger's horse, minicopter or scrap heli parked in a base of that size.
Building limits
Every building under your own cupboard has a foundation limit and a height limit, counted in floors. /cb, inside your building, shows its foundations, height and block count against your limits, plus what a /repairall would cost.
| Rank | Foundations | Floors high |
|---|---|---|
| Everyone | 30 | 3 |
| Building Limits 1 | 50 | 5 |
| Building Limits 2 | 80 | 7 |
| Building Limits 3 | 120 | 12 |
| Building Limits 4 | 160 | 15 |
| Legendary Limits | 800 | 50 |
The ranks are in the Engineer tree of /p. The limits of whoever placed the cupboard apply, so let the teammate with the most ranks place it.
Upgrading and repairing
/bgrade 1to4upgrades every block you place to wood, stone, metal or armoured, paid from your inventory. It switches itself off after 30 seconds;/bgrade t <seconds>sets up to 180./bgrade 0turns it off./agrade 1to4upgrades the whole building you stand in at once. It costs 5 RP for every block in the building and 1.5 times the normal resources. It is the Upgrade All perk in the Engineer tree; Upgrade All FREE drops the RP and cuts the resources to 1.1 times./repairall yesrepairs every damaged block in the building: 5 RP per block and 1.5 times the repair resources, or no RP and 1.1 times with Repair All FREE. Not while you, or a player with a stake in this base, are in a heli, Bradley or raid fight.
Both need you authorised on the cupboard.
Removing
/remove turns on the remover for 60 seconds (/remove <seconds> for up to 300). With empty hands, hit what you want gone, within 3 m. You can remove what you or your team placed, up to 50 objects a go, then wait 60 seconds before turning it on again.
- Deployables (boxes, doors, furnaces and the like) come back as the item. A box that is not empty drops its contents in a bag.
- Building blocks charge a fee and refund part of their cost. For a wall or a foundation:
| Grade | Fee | Refund |
|---|---|---|
| Twig | 30 wood | 20 wood |
| Wood | 120 wood | 80 wood |
| Stone | 180 stones | 120 stones |
| Metal | 120 metal fragments | 80 metal fragments |
| Armoured | 15 high quality metal | 10 high quality metal |
Floors cost and refund about half of that. The remover window shows the fee and the refund for whatever you aim at.
Who can open your boxes
Your boxes, furnaces, weapon racks and other containers open only for you and your team. Other players cannot loot them, switch your furnaces on or off, or pick your things up. Look at a box and type:
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/share <player> | Lets that player use this box. /share alone opens it to everyone |
/unshare <player> | Takes it back. /unshare alone undoes a share with everyone |
/sharelist | Who may use this box |
/shareclear | Removes every share on this box |
Mailboxes are open to everyone, so anyone can post to you.
Sorting
Inside your building privilege, wood boxes, stashes, fridges, coffins, furnaces and campfires get a sorting panel. Pick which categories or items a box takes, then:
- This moves the matching items from your inventory into this box, Nearby into every set-up box of yours or your team's within 30 m.
- Arrange Box tidies the box, Dump All empties your inventory into it, Loot All empties it into your inventory.
/sort.nearbydoes Nearby without opening a box. Your belt is never sorted.
Packing up vehicles
Hit a vehicle or horse twice with a hammer where you can build to pack it into an item you can place again later. Its fuel and whatever it carries go with it. A vehicle you own (bought from a vendor, or placed from an RP store token) is yours: only you can pack it up, and only you and your team can sit in it, as driver or passenger. Vehicles found in the world belong to nobody. Nothing can be packed up in the 5 seconds after it took damage.
Building in the Town
In the Town you can rent one of its homestead plots: 8 RP an hour, at least 24 hours at a time and up to a week ahead, building up to 12 m high. Your team builds there with you, and you are safe asleep in your own plot.
